What Are Successful People Doing?

If you want to succeed then do what successful people are doing. Here are 10 things they do.

1. They try out new things, knowing that if it doesn't work out as intended, failure is a learning opportunity.

2. Believe and trust themselves. They instinctively know what is right for them and they go for it!

3. They have a well-developed life strategy that includes a written life vision and mission, purpose, and goals statement.

4. They get things done, through whatever time management system that works for them. They make the most of each day and take action on important life tasks each and everyday.

5. They surround themselves with only the highest quality people, programs, and places.

6. Tap into the collective brainpower of others by reading books, magazines, and article listening to MP3 audiobooks, podcasts,—anything that is helpful for their own development.

7. Value the process of learning for learning's sake. They do not just learn for a specific end---to get a certificate, degree, title, etc. They learn because it is fundamentally rewarding for them.

8. They are the teachers of the world, who share their knowledge with other people. They put themselves out there so the rest of us can benefit, and in exchange, their own learning grows and develops.

9. They love to grow and develop. To stay ahead of the game, they often reinvent themselves over and over again.

10. They are insatiably curious and want to know more about becoming bigger and brighter, as a result they naturally evolve.

How many of these are you doing? Which ones seem too difficult?

Pick the top three that can have an impact on in your life and take action today...By the way this is what successful people do...they take action.

Getting Over the Speed Bumps of Life

In our professional and personal lives it is human to have down times, where we feel discouraged and depressed. The difference is how quickly we choose to get over those things that are holding us back, or making us feel less than our personal best.

I believe this is the key: being able to get past the downtimes that happens in our life as quickly as possible and getting back on track with being your best, moving forward in continuous improvement.

Remember, self-improvement is a hands-on project. It takes on-going implementation of the new ideas we learn. We aren't going to miraculously wake up one day changed people. No, we've got to act on those ideas and bits of sound advice we learn.

This is why we must take action to quickly get out of the downtimes we all will have in our personal and professional lives.
  • Some will do it and some will not.
  • Some will get stuck and some will take action.
  • Some will always have an excuse and Some will decide it time to change.

Here is a saying by Zig Ziglar; he has such a simple - yet powerful way of getting his point across:

Zig says, "People often say motivation doesn't last, well that may be true, but neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it every day."

Understanding the need to spend time on motivation and inspiration on a daily basis can lead a more positive daily life.

Let's look at it another way. You wake up and you pretty much have a clean slate. In most cases your day is fresh - not overly negative nor positive. That being the case - then wouldn't it stand to reason that importing positive thoughts (i.e. reading, listening, reciting, meditating, viewing, etc.) first thing in the morning, and throughout your day could do wonders towards reprogramming the way in which you see your world?

Read the above Zig Ziglar quote several times a day. Also, choose to read from an inspirational book or listen to inspirational songs at least three times a day. In addition, immediately balance any negative experiences with something positive.

Given the events of most people's days this isn't always feasible, but this approach can pay dividends and is worth attempting. Keep in mind that no matter how great any idea or advice is, unless YOU choose to implement it and give it a fair shot to work in your life you're not going to get results.

Let me say that again - because it's that important!

YOU have to be a part of your own success journey. If you want to see real lasting change for the better in your life, you've got to be the biggest part of the process.

So simply knowing that you can offset your negative feelings by introducing positive thoughts into your mind simply isn't enough. No - you've got to actually do it - it's going to mean keeping that inspirational book, or CD or MP3 recording handy to refer to when you need to. It might mean stopping what you're doing at the moment or even scheduling yourself some time to take in positive or motivational material.

Developing a positive mental attitude is a choice. It requires nurturing. It's not always immediate, but if you will work on it, and cultivate it you will see results. And those around you will as well.

This is the key to quickly get out of the downtimes we all will have in our personal and professional lives.
  • Some will do it and some will not.
  • Some will get stuck and some will take action.
  • Some will always have an excuse and Some will decide it time to change.

What is Success?

Have you ever wondered what the thing you personally call success is? What makes you feel good about yourself, is it to be rich to be famous to be approved by people to be loved or even to be hated?

It is strange but most people never ask themselves to define the thing, they call success. They have a disjointed picture of what they want in their brain so it is natural for the outcome to be rather unpleasant.

The success here is that you do have an outcome and you are responsible for this, you created your life the way it is today.

So the answer is rather simple change your internal definitions to what you truly desire and life will start picking up.

The brain is like a car if you don’t have the control you will get killed but if you do, it makes your life easier.

The Key is Focus, have a very clear vision of what you want and train your mind to focus it’s power to one purpose.

It is coordinated and massive action towards a goal that gives you the result.

To conclude a word about failure, it simply Does NOT exist. Feedback is the right word to use. Feedback is your Compass in life without it you are lost.

7 Habits of Unsuccessful People

When I consult or coach or lead personal development workshops an area I look for is: What is getting in the way of them being successful? Here are the top 7 things they are doing.

NUMBER 1 - They Think, Say, & Do Negative Things.

Yes. They see problems in EVERY opportunity.

They complain that the sun is too hot. They cursed the rain for ruining their plans for the day. They blame the wind for ruining their hair.

They think that everyone is against them. They see the problems but never the solutions.

Every little bit of difficulty is exaggerated to the point of tragedy. They regard failures as catastrophes.

They become discouraged easily instead of learning from their mistakes.

They never seem to move forward because they're always afraid to come out of their comfort zones.

NUMBER 2 - They Act Before They Think.

They move based on instinct or impulse. If they see something they like, they buy at once without any second thought.

Then they see something better. They regret & curse for not able to take advantage of the bargain.

Then they spend & spend again until nothing's left. They don't think about the future. What they're after is the pleasure they will experience at present.

They don't think about the consequences. Those who engage in unsafe sex, criminality, and the like are included in this group.

NUMBER 3 - They Talk Much More Than They Listen

They want to be the star of the show. So they always engage in talks that would make them heroes, even to the point of lying.

Oftentimes they are not aware that what they're saying is not sensible anymore.

When other people advise them, they close their ears because they're too proud to admit their mistakes.

In their mind they're always correct. They reject suggestions because that will make them feel inferior.

NUMBER 4 - They Give Up Easily

Successful people treat failures as stepping stones to success.

Incompetent ones call it quits upon recognizing the first signs of failure.

At first, they may be excited to start an endeavor. But then they lose interest fairly quickly, especially when they encounter errors.

Then they go & search for a new one. Same story & same results. Incompetent people don't have the persistence to go on and fulfill their dreams.

NUMBER 5 - They Try to Bring Others Down To Their Level

Incompetent people envy other successful individuals. Instead of working hard to be like them, these incompetent ones spread rumors and try every dirty trick to bring them down.

They could've asked these successful ones nicely. But no, they're too proud. They don't want to ask advise. Moreover, they're too negative to accomplish anything.

NUMBER 6 - They Waste Their Time

They don't know what to do next. They may just be contented on eating, getting drunk, watching TV, or worse, staring at the blank wall with no thoughts whatsoever to improve their lives.

It's perfectly fine to enjoy once in a while. But time should be managed efficiently in order to succeed. There should be a proper balance between work & pleasure.

NUMBER 7 - They Take the Easy Way Out

If there are two roads to choose from, incompetent people would choose the wider road with less rewards than the narrower road with much better rewards at the end.

They don't want any suffering or hardship. They want a good life.

What these people don't know is that what you reap is what you sow. Efforts & action will not go unnoticed.

If only they would be willing to sacrifice a little, they would be much better off.

Successful people made it through trials & error. They never give up. They are willing to do everything necessary to achieve what they aspire for in life.
